ISSN 0001-5555 Current therapy for vitiligo is largely unsatisfactory; hence there is a need for new treatment combinations to be assessed. Whereas stable vitiligo can benefit from surgical therapies, such as suction-blister epidermal grafting (SBEG) (1), the non-segmental counterpart usually shows a poor response to this treatment (2). To overcome this issue, for high-risk patients affected by both focal and generalized vitiligo, a combined approach of epidermal graft and systemic corticosteroids has been advocated in order to reduce the risk of graft depigmentation (3, 4). We report here the case of a patient affected by generalized vitiligo who was treated successfully with SBEG after a prolonged course of topical 0.1% tacrolimus treatment (Protopic, Astellas Pharma US, Inc.). It is noteworthy that maintaining topical tacrolimus treatment allowed and preserved graft pigmentation for more than one year, whereas, after its discontinuation, graft depigmentation began to develop.

متن کاملFibrin Glue Fixation for Suction Blister Epidermal Grafting in Two Patients with Stable Vitiligo
Vitiligo is a chronic disorder characterized by depigmented macules which can slowly enlarge with the concurrent development of new lesions. Although autologous suction blister epidermal grafting is an established technique for the treatment of recalcitrant, stable vitiligo, the donor tissue graft is not easy to fix at the recipient site, especially in areas such as the joints, face, cutaneous ...

Vitiligo is an acquired cutaneous disorder of pigmentation, with an incidence of 0.5% to 2% worldwide. There are three major hypotheses for the pathogenesis of vitiligo that are not exclusive of each other: biochemical/cytotoxic, neural and autoimmune. Recent data provide strong evidence supporting an autoimmune pathogenesis of vitiligo. As vitiligo can have a major effect on quality of life, t...
متن کاملThe effect of topical 5- fluorouracil ointment along with epidermal abrasion in treatment of vitiligo
Vitiligo is a common idiopathic acquired cutaneous pigmentary disorder resulting in depigmented skin. A wide variety of therapeutic modalities have been employed for its treatment, but none of them are satisfactory, in this study we have tested the effect of 5- fluorouracil 5FU on 54 patients with documented vitiligo in Kerman city. The following treatments were performed on three selected v...
